Scars

Rashid Carter

Bio

I am a senior Interactive Multimedia major. My main focuses are music production, music engineering, and sound design for film, tv, and games.

Project Overview

Scars is an EP (Extended Play) that speaks on various topics and themes involving suicide and mental health issues. Each song tackles a different subject matter.

Creative Challenge

I created the beats, mixed, and mastered with Logic Pro X. I recorded the vocals with a Blue Yeti USB microphone. The main challenge that I had with this project was lyrical decision making, which involves deciding whether or not to go too deep into a certain direction.

This project was originally meant to be a visual EP. There was going to be a video to go along with the music. With the arrival of COVID-19, I no longer had access to resources that being at TCNJ provided me. This was a tough decision to make, but it was an appropriate decision. The last thing that I would want to do is release a low quality project.

Inspiration

The topic of suicide and mental health issues is a very serious one. It is a topic that I felt interested in telling a story about. I want to tell a story that may cause people to view this topic more seriously.

This project is just the beginning for me. I want to keep creating music and improve on my skills. I want to be a music engineer and sound designer while working on my music on the side.
