Project Overview

Gold Frames Media is a multimedia company specializing in full service video production located in the Trenton/Ewing area. I spent the fall semester researching, brainstorming and outlining a potential company that I could start up post graduation. I created a business plan and presented it to a few small companies/businesses. The feedback I received from them was incredible; some of the companies were impressed with my work and were interested in collaborating in the future. During my spring semester, I focused on creating a variety of videos to show content the company could create.

Inspiration

For my project, I knew that I wanted to challenge myself, think outside the box and truly deliver something that I was really proud of. I wanted to be ambitious and think of the craziest idea, which led me to think: what if I start my own company? I’m young enough to take a risk, so I did! Ambition became my inspiration.

Collaboration

I collaborated with my professors and peers to receive lots of constructive criticism and feedback. It was extremely helpful throughout the thesis process!

Broader Impact

With this project, there are endless things I could do to impact life beyond TCNJ. I have the ability to collaborate with people in need to share their stories.

Professional and Creative Goals

I want this work to show my hardworking personality and dedication. I felt as though this project already has allowed me to learn more about myself and what I am capable of. I would love to further continue this idea in the future and one day start my own company. For the time being, I’m interested in pursuing a career in TV/Film Production and/or Audio Engineering, so I hope this project can show my passion for both.

Biggest Challenge

My biggest challenge was myself. There were times where I faced a lot of internal struggles - motivation, self doubt, etc. At the end of the day, I am proud that I encouraged myself to keep pushing forward.

Adapting to COVID

COVID-19 definitely impacted my project big time. I had planned to use the Lighting Studio and computer labs in order to create the most professional videos I could. However, having to do this at home was interesting. I did not have any of the equipment I hoped to use, so I spent two weeks building a studio in my room. I had to make DIY softbox lights, an overhead rig and use my brother’s old toys to create stabilizers and sliders. Honestly, it was a lot of fun to see everyday items being used for my thesis project.
